Adult Literacy for Life in Kilkenny and Carlow

Adult Literacy for Life is a whole-of-society strategy. It aims to ensure that everyone has the literacy, numeracy and digital literacy to participate in society and succeed in life. Read the Adult Literacy for Life strategy.

Hello, my name is Helen Walsh

I am the Regional Literacy Coordinator for Kilkenny and Carlow. I have many years of experience working in the area of adult literacy. I am deeply committed to rolling out the Adult Literacy for Life Strategy in our region.

I would be delighted to hear from organisations, agencies, clubs or individuals in the area to work together to reduce the number of adults with unmet literacy, numeracy or digital needs. I can help support organisations to be more accessible for adults with unmet needs.

Meet your Kilkenny and Carlow Literacy Coalition

In Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB), we set up a Regional Adult Literacy Coalition to implement the Adult Literacy for Life strategy. It has representatives from lots of organisations that work together. We aim to improve services and supports for adults with unmet literacy, numeracy and digital literacy needs. The Coalition has written a Literacy Action Plan for Carlow Kilkenny to help them do this.
