About this project
This project helped people in addiction recovery to manage their finances. Workshops allowed participants to have a fresh start financially, which is an important part of achieving long-term recovery.
Waterford Credit Union collaborated with Aiséirí to deliver workshops and support clients on how to use financial services effectively. They also helped clients to open bank and savings accounts at their local credit union in Waterford.
The course covered the following areas:
personal budgeting,
challenging poor spending habits,
addressing Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and tax credit issues,
borrowing options,
online shopping,
communicating with financial institutions,
saving options,
pensions, and
debt management.
More about this project
Participants developed a financial literacy handbook, which will be made available to future clients. The booklet includes all the tips and tools that learners covered during the course.
