Using boxing and addiction recovery to improve literacy

About this project

This project helped people in addiction recovery by providing an accessible course that promotes confidence and a positive sense of identity. 

The course created a supportive, peer-led environment for learning and personal development.  It combined classroom learning, physical  activity,  and recovery support in a single programme.

The project combined boxing training, physical fitness,  education, and recovery supports in a 20-week programme.

Facilitators delivered an Addiction Studies Level 5 course through structured workshops, peer workshops, and in-person group sessions.

The Health and Fitness Level 4 course used classroom-based workshops, in-person classes and experiential learning during boxing lessons.
