About this project

This project combined financial literacy with practical cooking skills. It used real-world budgeting, meal planning and ingredient costing activities to improve literacy among various cohorts.

More about this project

The eight week course helped learners build financial literacy skills through food budgeting,  shopping,  and meal preparation.

Facilitators produced an ingredient costing booklet for ongoing use, which includes recipes, price guides, and budgeting tools.

“I loved the course. It was great to get out of the house and learn something useful. I am now looking at doing a careers course with the ETB. I know now that the teachers there are lovely and will help me.”  - quote from a learner
