This project provided digital literacy skills to older people and hard to reach populations living in Dublin Inner City. Partner organisations worked together to provide digital workshops to different groups in various locations throughout Inner City Dublin.

The project took place from the end of August until the end of 2024 in seven locations across Inner City Dublin.

146 older people participated in introductory workshops, weekly courses, and one-to-one supports.

The Freshly Ground theatre group organized nine introductory workshops. Each workshop addressed needs among different groups, like a men’s shed group, a women’s coffee morning group, and digital literacy groups.

Overall, the project ran 84 workshops aimed at older people to improve their digital skills.

Interactive workshops opened conversations about technology and fostered an environment for mutual learning and peer support.

Everyone felt comfortable expressing concerns they had about digital literacy without fear of judgment.

Participants felt they gained lots of confidence when using digital devices and showed an interest in learning more. They now have a better grasp of the basics in digital literacy, like sending texts or emails and using WhatsApp.

This project was a collaboration between Lourdes Youth & Community Services, An Síol Community Development Project, Robert Emmett Community Development Project, North Wall Community Development Project, and Dublin City Community Co-Op.
