Digital Skills for Adults

Addressing digital exclusion among adults in Leitrim.

Digital Class

“I find this an excellent service for my age group, staff are above and beyond helpful. I hope this service will continue as it has been a very positive experience for me.” Quote from participant

This project provided 778 one-to-one sessions to address digital exclusion among adults in Leitrim. It helped people overcome issues with digital literacy in a comfortable environment, and made information about digital technology accessible.

The project ran from July to December 2023. Tutors covered topics like online banking, accessing government services, updating travel documents, and using online library services. Learners had many questions about online payrolls, Microsoft Word or Excel, online motor tax, and booking train tickets.

Learners felt comfortable in one-to-one sessions. Private rooms in libraries encouraged nervous learners to ask questions. There was no pressure or anxiety to worry about. The project is serving the community very well, and it will hopefully continue to do so in future.

This project was the result of a collaboration between Leitrim Library Service and May, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB).
