“The workshop gives you the space to think through what’s been happening in the play and to bring it to your own life.”- Participant
This project brought a live drama called "A Face in the Crowd" to community audiences so that they can learn more about mental illness. The drama focused on real-life stories about individual's experiences with mental health issues and was performed by a theatre company.
The live theatre performance took place in the Wexford Arts Centre on 24th September 2024. Organisations who attended the live performance hosted mental health literacy workshops for programme participants. 12 Mental Health Literacy workshops took place locally throughout Wexford between September and October 2024.
Participants experienced the live drama and then had the opportunity to attend a mental health literacy workshop. In the workshop, they explored how lessons drawn from the drama can support their mental health and that of their community.
The live drama and workshops helped individuals, families, and communities raise awareness and reduce stigma about mental health. The project also promoted a more inclusive society and encouraged more active citizenship regarding mental health supports in the community.
This project provided learners with tools to manage their mental health and wellbeing more effectively.
