Employment, Job Application & Interview Preparation Support Hub

Job application and interview preparation support hub.

Regional Literacy Coordinator Paula Tiller and course facilitators.

“A volunteer called back to the centre to advise she got a job in a local hotel as a direct result of the support she received in making an online job application.”- Facilitator

This project provided a job application and interview support hub for learners and individuals in Killarney. The support hub allowed individuals to address their needs and overcome barriers they face during the job application process.

The programme ran for 13 weeks and the drop-in hub was available for 3 hours each week.  Over 50 people attended the support hubs and workshops overall.

Two Kerry ETB tutors worked with learners to:

-  develop a C.V. and Cover Letter to a high standard,

-  use online job search websites,

-   store documents on their devices for future job applications.

-  understand the process, expectations, and language skills of a formal interview, and

-  send formal emails to apply for jobs, attaching all relevant documentation.

The Support Hub provided a safe space for people to address their needs in a respectful and professional way.

This project was an innovative response to local needs. It played a key role in enhancing social inclusion, job readiness, and digital skills among many target groups.

This project was a collaboration between Killarney Adult Literacy and Basic Education Centre and Killarney Library.
