About this project

This project trained learners from Syrian, Ukrainian, Roma, Traveller, and senior communities to become digital literacy champions. This training allowed learners to  share digital  skills  in their own communities.

IT specialist Brian Hartnett and four volunteer mentors delivered the in-person course over 10 weeks.

Sessions covered

  • basic technology use,

  • email,

  • online banking,

  •  online shopping,

  • video calls,

  •  social media,

  • digital safety,

  • CVs, 

  • scanning, 

  • AI/search tools, and

  • confidence-building.  

The programme focused on developing digital champions who would transfer their knowledge to their communities through

  • practical demonstrations,

  • simplified explanations, and

  • tailored support.
