This project was a collaboration between Ludgate Operations Limited, Citizens Information Services, University College Cork, and Cork ETB.
This project aimed to expand Ludgate's existing financial literacy programme by creating tailored digital and paper-based resources. These resources will foster financial independence by empowering individuals with practical financial skills.
The project took place between September and December 2024, at the Ludgate Hub in Skibbereen and at University College Cork (UCC).
Third-level students at UCC developed digital resources in collaboration with Ludgate Hub and made them available online.
UCC students ensured that resources were engaging and tailored to the needs of tech-savvy individuals and groups.
Project partners developed a Crisis Management Pack. This is a guide designed to help people record and safeguard important personal, financial, and legal information.
Ludgate delivered a Crisis Management session in collaboration with Citizens Information Services (CIS). Participants provided useful feedback on the Crisis Management Pack under development.
UCC launched a university-wide awareness campaign in March 2025 to coincide with National Money Week. This campaign fostered widespread engagement with the new resources.
This project produced high-quality and accessible resources that cater to all learning preferences and backgrounds.
It is anticipated that many target groups will engage with the resources developed as part of this project. Partner organisations will be distributing resources, ensuring that as many people as possible can access them.
These resources are expected to reach thousands of people, and will empower individuals with financial skills and strategies for resilience.
