“This new series of resources is another positive step in the journey of Fáilte Isteach and one which, no doubt, will enable learners and tutors to engage in interactive and enriching conversations that bring people together on a very human level.” Dr Bronagh Ćatibušić
This project developed new tutor and learner resources to support literacy among migrants in Fáilte Isteach groups nationwide. Fáilte Isteach worked with Trinity College Dublin to create three Conversation Booklets for learners and tutors:
a level one booklet for absolute beginners,
a level two booklet for A1/A2 level English-speakers, and
a level three booklet for intermediate learners.
This project provided new resources that focused on language needed for professional, personal, health, social, economic interactions. These accessible resources allow every Fáilte Isteach tutor and learners to cover practical language topics related to life in Ireland.
The Fáilte Isteach team worked with an external designer to create the books. Collaboration with Trinity College Dublin involved a review stage, feedback on content, and testing of materials. Printing went ahead in March 2025.
Three levels of conversational resources for tutors and learners can now be distributed across all classes and locations free of charge. Approximately 3,000 tutors and over 23,000 learners, representing 109 nationalities, will make use of these resources every year.
