"Very successful for the parents. Parents were delighted with the resources”- Tutor
This project aimed to help participants master the Aladdin App, which is used for communications in primary schools. Almost 3000 primary schools in Ireland use the Aladdin Schools software service for administrative purposes. Schools communicate and share information with parents through the app, such as attendance, test results, report cards, and homework. However, due to unmet digital literacy needs, many parents don’t use the app.
Six parents attended classes during the Autumn term 2024 in the parent's room of Scoil Mhuire, Blakestown.
The tutor demonstrated how to download the application and use it effectively. Parents were who were unable to download the app can now access the noticeboard, permissions, attendance notes, and school reports.
The course empowered parents to:
improve their digital skills,
communicate with the school,
support their children's education,
identify other literacy needs, and
break down barriers to education.
Introducing learners to the Aladdin app helped them improve literacy and digital literacy skills. Participants now have the confidence and ability to communicate effectively with their children’s school.
