“The resources are abundant with lots of choice to appeal to a wide range of learners”- Facilitator
This project is built on Kilkenny Carlow ETB’s One Book, One Film for ALL project. Teachers and Home School Community Liaisons (HSCL) ran storytelling classes with families. Storytelling materials and resources are available for parents and carers.
The project took place in Cavan and Monaghan between August to December 2024. Cavan and Monaghan ETB developed the programme, and the HSCL offered it in schools and to families.
Up to 500 families across the two counties took part in the programme. Carers, migrants, international protection applicants, members of the Traveller community, and others took part.
Monaghan Integrated Development organised story-telling sessions for 40 people.
Story-telling sessions encouraged parents to read with their children. Listening to stories helped people to improve their literacy skills.
The children enjoyed listening and reading stories with their parents and carers. The books and resources will be used again with more families.
Copies of materials and resources are online on Padlet for tutors.
“I liked the ease of getting involved by simply opening the resource book. The novel itself is absolutely beautiful."- Learner
Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB), Dun Mhuire Adult Education Centre, Tusla Education Support Service, and Monaghan Integrated Development worked together on this project. It was supported by Kilkenny Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB).
