“All tutors can all see a lot of positive in using it once students get used to it and will definitely be keeping an eye on their progress in the coming weeks. And KWETB will support tutors any way we can.” Quote from Facilitator

This project provided Lexia licences to tutors teaching English to adults as a second language. Lexia is a digital curriculum that combines tutor-led instruction with interactive material. Tutors used the Lexia PowerUp course to support adult learners.

Wicklow Library Service bought 150 Lexia licences in July 2023. Tutors working for Wicklow County Council Library Service used licences with two student groups in February 2024. Thanks to these licences, Ukrainian adults attending English classes in Baltinglass Library are learning a lot.

40 learners have used Lexia PowerUp so far, and that number will grow with time. Lexia curriculums are playing a very important role in helping adults learn English. They also encourage learners to use libraries and to socialise in safe and inclusive settings.

This project was the result of a collaboration between Wicklow County Library Service, Bray Area partnership and Kildare and Wicklow ETB.
