Literacy Together

Helping families engage with digital literacy.

This project helped parents from DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity) schools tackle unmet literacy needs. It introduced parents to new ways of learning digital literacy with their children. Parents can now use this knowledge to develop storytelling and digital skills with their families.

This project took place in Kilkenny and Carlow library branches and ran from November to December 2023. 27 learners attended classes in total.

Participants learnt oral and visual storytelling skills, such as making miniature sets, scripts, storyboards, and stop motion animation films. This training significantly boosted their confidence and inspired them to continue to develop these skills at home.

Visual story telling class

This project was the result of a collaboration between Kilkenny County Council, the Library Service, and Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB).
