About this project

This project trained members of the deaf community to become Irish Sign Language tutors (ISL).

The training course had a very positive impact. It allowed members of the deaf community to gain meaningful employment and more tutors are now available locally.

Learners found this Train the Trainer course to be a wonderful opportunity. They are really looking forward to attending more training in future.

More about this project

Facilitators provided 40 hours of training to enable participants to deliver basic ISL courses.

The course offered an introduction to:

  • teaching methods,

  • how to embed ISL features in teaching sessions,

  • ISL teaching ethics, and

  • assessment tools.
