About this project
This project helped adults with unmet literacy needs, particularly those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence or addiction, through creative play-writing workshops.
More about this project
Thirty-three in-person workshops took place in various locations. The course covered group storytelling, play-writing, individual writing, and participative activities.
Tutors used play-writing as a tool to promote literacy, confidence, communication, and well-being. They also focused storytelling on learners' own life experiences.
The project culminated in a showcase event at the Gate Theatre, with plays performed by professional actors. Guest speakers also signposted community supports at the event.
