Eve Estuary Services
About this project
"Work Smarter" addressed unmet literacy and digital literacy needs among adults with intellectual disabilities. The project supported literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and financial literacy as well as interpersonal communication skills.
Topics included:
understanding payslips,
getting to know the Revenue Online Service,
safety signage in the workplace, and
form filling.
Learners worked on their personal communication skills so they could advocate for themselves in workplace settings. They learnt about volunteering and how to build their skill sets so they could explore local volunteering roles.
More about this project
This programme used the expertise of the adult literacy service and Eve Estuary Centre, along with input from keyworkers and feedback from employers. Facilitators applied Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to make concepts accessible to adults with intellectual disabilities.
