About this project
This project combined literacy skills with equine training to help learners achieve certification and work experience.
This 10-week programme catered to early school leavers, unemployed adults, low-paid workers, persons with disabilities, and members of Traveller and Roma communities.

The course was delivered onsite at Fettercairn, Youth Horse Project. Twelve students were split into two groups, alternating between classroom-based literacy support and horse training. The course ran from late May to late July 2025.
A literacy tutor worked with the horse training team, using literacy-friendly materials and universal design principles.
