More about this project
Facilitators delivered six weekly, two-hour in-person classes at Pearse College in Crumlin.
Learners, family members, and key workers co-designed the course. It focused on practical, real-life financial skills and independence.
The project produced a "Managing my money" manual, which contains six lesson plans on:
- income and money,
- understanding bills and looking at needs and wants,
- creating a weekly budget,
- sticking to a budget and consequences of overspending,
- banking and safety of personal information, and
- bringing it all together and real life planning/spending experience.
“I enjoyed the course. I am able to handle money better when I go out to buy something. If I don't have enough I know I would have to save until I have enough money to buy it.” — quote from a learner
