About this project

This project promoted literacy inclusion for adults with intellectual disabilities through plain language and accessible formats.

It established a user-led Easy Read committee to review and improve policies affecting everyday life.

Learners with intellectual disabilities reviewed and redesigned an Easy Read safeguarding policy.

Policy work allowed learners to build

  • literacy skills,

  • digital skills,

  • communication skills,

  • advocacy, and

  • critical thinking skills.  

Kerry ETB provided a tutor who completed 20 hours of online software training. The tutor then delivered five 2-hour sessions with learners and a support worker.
