About this project
This project improved literacy skills through the preservation of Traveller cultural heritage.
Learners conducted oral interviews, took photos, and gathered reflections from young and old Travellers to complete a book called The Generation Gap.
The booklet brings together a series of stories that capture moments from different generations.
More about this project
Annette Evans of Ballycommon TTC and Lorna Middleton of OTM delivered sessions at the Hazel Hub from early November to December 2025.
They used training-room computers, presentations, visual materials, and group discussions to help learners complete the booklet.
The booklet used travel as a lens to explore identity, belonging, cultural change, and community connections.
“For some participants it was the first time they had spoken to anybody openly about their lives and times of growing up as a Traveller. I think that is why so many people responded positively.” - quote from a Traveller
